Outer Reaches 2019

Haymaker Records is once again a sponsor of the Outer Reaches music festival in Kansas City, Missouri. This year’s festival will be celebrated Saturday October 19 at recordBar (1520 Grand Blvd). The eighth annual lineup spans across two stages and features two touring acts including space rock band Lumerians (Oakland, CA) and pop duo Thunder Jackson (Oklahoma / Wales). Kansas City bands featured at the festival this year include cosmic jazz legends BCR (Black Crack Revue), experimental hip hop duo FACEFACE, experimental music / performance artist Unicorns in the Snow, as well as Haymaker Records’ synthesizer-based psychedelic rock band Monta at Odds, and art-rock duo Shiny Jets ~~space rock band~~ ~~Be/Non~~ [We regret that Be/Non have had to cancel due to an emergency]. Accompanying live video projections will be provided by XO Blackwater.

The music festival Outer Reaches, in its seventh year, emphasizes musical acts experimenting and pushing boundaries. The fest aims to showcase the ‘out there,’ left-of-center, under-the-radar musical acts performing captivating live music. The shows are 18+ and feature acts from a variety of musical genres with accompanying video projection.

Freight Train Rabbit Killer

Friday, October 26 will also function as the release date for Volume 4 of Freight Train Rabbit Killer‘s “Wake Snake Death Dance” 7-Inch series. This is the final piece of the puzzle for solving the treasure hunt. The 7-Inch record will be available first at the band’s performance at Outer Reaches 2018 with only 100 copies available in blood red.

For the last three years, Haymaker Records has been a co-sponsor and planner of KC Psych Fest. The festival was rebranded to Outer Reaches this year, with the idea of being more incorporating of music outside of the “psych” genre. The music fest is still boundary-pushing and left-of-center, its just more inclusive of other genres now. We’re very excited to be a big part of the festival again this year. It will be held Friday, Sept. 30th and Saturday, Oct. 1st, 2016 at recordBar. Haymaker acts Be/Non and HMPH! are a part of the lineup this year, as well as 16 other great acts. The 11th annual Crossroads Music Fest kicks off tonight at 6:00 at seven different venues in the Crossroads arts district of Kansas City. The Haymaker Records Stage will be at MOD Gallery featuring the KC Psych Fest showcase with Dark Satellites, Riala, Freight Train Rabbit Killer, The Philistines, Janet the Planet, 3 Son Green, and the psychedelic DJ workings of DJ Mod Professor (DJ Ray Velasquez). We’ll have brilliant screen projection work by VJDN8.

It will be a real treat for the eyes and ears and cheap drinks all night. We can’t say enough about CMF and all the great local music acts it has helped expose over the years and are so happy to be a part of it. See you tonight!
